Our Wines

“50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cinsault and 25% Carignan – the Cab from a young untrellised Helderberg vineyard, the Cinsault is from a 1976 block, also Helderberg, and the Carignan from Wellington. Red and black berries, violets, fynbos, earth and spice on the nose while the palate is medium bodied with great clarity of fruit, snappy acidity and tannins that are fine but still provide grip. Precise and harmonious – slightly more Cab than before which adds a little more gravitas without losing finesse.”

Hogan Divergent Red Blend 2022 Case

Out of stock

The nose shows lovely cherry, currant and plum fruit, floral character and spice. A medium bodied palate, well balanced with a nice freshness and a savoury finish. Fine and expressive with wonderful purity.

6 x 750ml Hogan Divergent Red Blend 2022

25% Carignan
25% Cinsaut
50% Cabernet Sauvignon

Coastal Region

The Divergent blend comprises of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cinsaut and 25% Carignan. The Carignan was picked first towards the end of January from 18-year-old, unirrigated bush vines from Wellington. The Cinsaut, from the Helderberg region, picked in late February. These are 46-year-old, unirrigated bush vines. Lastly, the Cabernet Sauvignon was picked early-March from a young bush vine vineyard in Helderberg. All components were crushed and destemmed (except for the Cinsaut which was 30% whole bunch) and naturally fermented. After fermentation the different varietals were pressed and kept separate in 225L barrels. The wine spent 8 months in barrel. In June the barrels were first racked and the blend was made up in October and bottled in December.
